Andrea Gondos

Andrea Gondos completed her PhD at Concordia University in Montreal in Jewish
Studies. Now in Israel, pursuing her postdoctoral research at
Tel Aviv University on Jewish mystical knowledge and language
known as Kabbalah, she spends her days at the National Library
in Jerusalem which holds the most comprehensive and exclusive
archival collections of kabbalistic sources. The development of
the printing press and its use in printing religious texts for the
masses made highly complex works of kabbalah accessible to a
non-elite readership. By fusing textual analysis with questions of
historical, cultural, and social context, Andrea seeks to shed light
on the relationship between print culture and the dissemination of
knowledge in early modern Jewry.
